Donald C. Sibery, MHA, FACHE, President and Managing Partner for The Sibery Group, LLC, in March 2009, presented on the forces and trends impacting Physician and Hospital Relationships for the Strategic Planning Committee of the Michigan Health and Hospital Association.  Don served as a facilitator to explore the impact on the MHA as an Association as well as considering new ways to support their member organizations as further physician/hospital integration takes place in the industry.

Duane J. Fitch, CPA, MBA Senior Partner and Chief Financial Officer for The Sibery Group, LLC, is co-chairing an Illinois Hospital Association task force on provider strategies to consider in light of Medicare RAC (recovery audit contractor) audits. In addition, he is serving on the 2009 American Heart Association Chicago Heart Ball Committee.

In March of 2009, Anthony J. Tedeschi, MD, MPH, MBA, Executive Vice President and Founding Partner for The Sibery Group, LLC, presented at the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine where he holds a faculty appointment. The presentation was entitled “Physician’s Role in Shaping the Business of Healthcare” and was well attended by an audience of about 50 first and second year medical students.  The objectives of the presentation included:

  • Sharing Thoughts on U.S. Healthcare and the Opportunity for Physicians to Impact the Healthcare
  • Providing Insights on the Unique Role Physicians Play in Managing the Healthcare Business
  • Sharing One/Two Case Reviews of Actual Consulting Projects
  • Providing Opportunity for Questions and Discussion
  • Communicating One Take Away: "As Physicians Improving the State of Healthcare in the U.S. is Ours to Do, and We can Do It!"

In February of 2009, Robert A. Chase, MD, MS, FACP, Vice President of Clinical Quality for The Sibery Group, LLC, taught a multidisciplinary group preparing for the Clarion 2009 Interprofessional Team Case Competition: A Systems-Based Practice.  Dr. Chase spoke about the concepts of a root cause analysis (RCA) and the approach to utilizing Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QA/PI) methods in a thoughtful way to address real world problems in healthcare. The group included students and faculty from a number of areas at the University of Kansas in Wichita.

Karen M. Boland, RN, CIC, Senior Associate of Clinical Quality for The Sibery Group, LLC, received her Re- Certification in Infection Control in December 2008.

Jody K. Bierzychudek, RN, MPH, CPHQ, Senior Consultant for The Sibery Group, LLC, received her Masters in Public Health with a specialization in Health Services Management from Northern Illinois University in December 2008 as well as a graduate certificate in Homeland Security.

Mindy Malecki, JD, MS, Risk Management and Legal Consultant for The Sibery Group, LLC, presented at the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Conference in March 2009 to an audience of approximately 170 Healthcare Executives included Chief Executive Officers and Vice Presidents.  The topic of her presentation was "How to Negotiate Lucrative Yet Legally Sound Employment and Consulting Agreements for Yourself or for your Organization."

Jody K. Bierzychudek, RN, MPH, CPHQ, Senior Consultant for The Sibery Group, LLC, was inducted into the Northern Illinois University Alpha Eta Chapter, a national honor society in Allied Health, on April 19, 2009. In order to be inducted, students had to be nominated by faculty members and according to the bylaws of the Alpha Eta Society, only the top 20% or less of a graduating class in any given allied health program may be formally elected to membership.

Karen M. Boland, RN, CIC, Senior Associate of Clinical Quality for The Sibery Group, LLC, presented an update of Joint Commission and HFAP requirements regarding occurrence reporting at an educational symposium titled, "Occurrence Reports: Tools of the Trade or Time for a Trade In?" on February 18, 2010. The event was sponsored by Assurance, Lebow, Malecki & Tasch, LLC, GE, and The Sibery Group, LLC.
